Abt Associates has been selected by the Millennium Challenge Account-Indonesia to implement the one-year Participatory Mapping and Planning (PMaP) 6 project. Through this project Abt Associates will help over 300 rural villages in fifteen districts throughout the country to delineate and demarcate their boundaries and map their resources to attract future investment in areas that will improve rural livelihoods in an environmentally sustainable manner. In this project, Abt Associates and its team of Indonesian specialists and subcontractors will implement the 21-step Village Boundary Setting/Resource Management (VBS/RM) methodology in collaboration with local communities and government through a participatory process. 

Abt Associates is seeking a RS Specialist that will directly report to the project’s GIS Coordinator and be responsible for producing orthorectified high resolution satellite imageries (scale 1:5.000) to be used as the base map for VBS/RM. This position will identify, procure, and process high resolution satellite imagery according to Badan Informasi Geospasial (BIG) standard. Close coordination with BIG is required to implement the works. The position will be based in Jakarta and require some travels to project area in West Sumatera Province. 

Roles and Responsibilities

a. Assess current availability of high resolution satellite imagery over the project area.
b. Provide technical support in purchasing the imageries, which meet BIG criteria for orthorectification.
c. Design GCP and ICP survey according to BIG standard.
d. Coordinate with Geodetic Mapping Coordinator, supervise GCP/ICP survey team in collecting GCP/ICP coordinates.
e. Perform orthorectification process to produce orthorectified high resolution satellite imageries at a scale equal to 1:5.000 with RMSE and final product meet BIG standards.
f. Coordinate with BIG in implementing the works

Minimum Qualifications

a. Academic degree in natural resource management, forestry, geography, geodetic engineering, surveying and mapping, or related field; 
b. Has significant experience in developing orthorectified high resolution satellite imageries; 
c. Demonstrated technical skills in developing orthorectified high resolution satellite imageries using remote sensing software
d. Knowledge and experience of processing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and RADAR imageries are an advantage; 
e. Previous experience with BIG project, particularly at Pusat Pemetaan Rupa Bumi dan Toponimi (PPRT), is an advantage
f. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia; 
g. Good level of oral and written communication in English.
