Makassar 2015 Treasure Hunt

Tanggal Kegiatan:
Sunday, 31 May 2015

Rahal’s Makassar Treasure Hunt is the first of a series of episodes of delightful and exciting mobile based reality games in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The Treasure Hunt game will be hosting hundreds of people, locals and tourists, where groups of Friends, Families, and co-workers, or even perfect strangers can team-up and join the game as teams of 2 to 4 people each.

The historic and beautiful city of Makassar, is the biggest city in the Sulawesi island, and is the gateway to Eastern Indonesia, a thriving port and an important transportation hub, and above all, is a great tourist attraction in Indonesia with lots of lovely natural scenery, and historical sites of the old Gowanese kingdom, the early Sulawesi inhabitants and the tombs and monuments of the heroes of the Java war. All in additional to the delicious traditional foods that Makassar is rich with and famous of.

For all these reasons, Makassar was chosen as the first destination of the Rahal Treasure Hunt games in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Rahal’s Treasure Hunt games have already been going on in several countries in the Middle East Region and Arab World since 2011.
The Hunt Day

On the day of the hunt event (31st of May 2015), teams will gather at the starting point (Rotterdam Fort) at 7:00 am in the morning, and the game will start shortly afterwards. Teams will use the Rahal App to start solving missions on their smartphones, which will be a series of questions whose answers lead to certain historical, cultural, or known location in Makassar city. Teams can use all possible ways to know the location (calling friends, asking around, using maps, and -most importantly- use online search engines), then go to the locations ‘answers’ of the questions, and perform a check-in using their GPS enabled mobile phones. Teams will also be given challenges to do after they arrive at the correct destinations.

Players should use their mobile smartphones, to install the Rahal app,  join the hunt and form their teams, and to compete in the games. Teams can also -preferably- use their cars for transportation, however, if some players don’t have cars, they can join other teams who have extra room in their cars, or just use the various public/private transportation options in Makassar city, which will add more fun to the game, though it might be slightly slower and reducing the chance to finish early.

By solving missions, going to the correct destinations and checking-in as well performing the assigned challenges, teams will be granted points for their performance at each station. The winning team will be the first team to arrive to the last destination, after having gathered the largest number of earned points. The winning teams will be announced and awarded lucrative prizes in the award ceremony on June 3rd at the ceremony of Makassar International Writers Festival at Fort Rotterdam.
The Video Competition

Teams are encouraged to take lots of photos and videos to cover their experience during the hunt, and document the unforgettable journey through the wonders of Indonesian Makassar city.

After the event, a video competition will take place, where teams are encouraged to compile a short (1 to 5 minutes) video, from the photo and video shots they took during the event, and submit it to the video competition page on http://makassar.rahalasia.com, submission will be open right after the hunt for 2 weeks. Submitted videos will be published on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc..)

Videos that earn the most popularity on social media, will be the winner. The video competition winning team will be awarded a worthwhile monetary prize, and will be announced on the hunt website, and social media.
